Pro West Engineering: Customer References

Customer: Pacificorp (Salt Lake City, UT)

Pro West Engineering programmed PLC based alarm annunciation for the hydrogen cooling systems on our 100 mega-watt generator and our 80 mega-watt generator units. The alarm annunciation was programmed to interface with our Bailey DCS system. Their services were professional and satisfactory.

Pro West Engineering provided instrumentation and programming services for our cooling water system on all of our 45 mega-watt peaking units. They are good to work with.

Thomas Goff - Electrical Dept.

Customer: Pacificorp (Little Mountain, UT)

Pro West Engineering did the boiler feed pump VFD controls integration work on our boiler feed pumps at our Little Mountain generating station. This included PLC programming and RSView screen development. They did nice work.

Ron Robertson - Facility Maintenance Manager

Customer: Raser Technologies (Milford, UT)

Pro West Engineering provided a device coordination study that fixed our problems with nuisance tripping on our medium voltage reclosers/breakers. They also performed short circuit analysis and arc flash study for our plant. The arc flash stickers helped make us aware of how to use the correct PPE while working on electrical equipment.

Johnny White - Controls and Instrumentation

Customer: Wolverine Gas & Oil (Richfield, UT)

Pro West Engineering designed our 12.47kv power distribution system feeding multiple oil well pads which included protective switchgear, sectionalizing equipment and cabling.

Bryan Sorensen - Electrical Supervisor

Customer: Amalgamated Sugar Co. LLC (Twin Falls, ID)

Terry Robinson is experienced with generator controls and excitation systems. He configured our steam turbine generators to run while disconnected from the utility and power our plant. This included a complex loading shedding program to keep the plant online with loss of utility power. This included configuration of Woodward controls, synchronizing relays, Basler excitation controllers and control system. These upgrades allowed us to cost-effectively add "paralleling" functionality to our electrical distribution system.

Donald Lautt - Electrical Supervisor

Customer: Barrick Gold (Carlin, NV)

Terry Robinson programmed a complete PLC system that controls our sample preparation ovens, sample conveying and handling systems, crushers, pulverizers and servo/encoder controlled sample filling tables. The system allowed Barrick to utilize complete barcode tracking from sample loading to processing. This project was completed using four Allen Bradley CompactLogix PLC's having a total of over 11,000 data points and highly complex program logic. PLC programming included integration with serial devices, servo/encoder drives, VFD's, load cell controllers, barcode scanners and FactoryTalk Transaction Manager (RSSQL). Terry Robinsonperformed this work in a professional manner.

Customer: Wolverine Gas & Oil (Richfield, UT)

Pro West Engineering designed the electrical system for 2 well pads. This included Allen Bradley Centerline motor control centers, VFD's transformers and switchgear. The engineering and design drawings were great.

Bryan Sorensen - Electrical Supervisor

Customer: Won-Door Corporation (Salt Lake City, UT)

We completely designed the mechanical operation of a new track drilling machine that was intended to improve efficiency in our manufacturing operation. Pro West Engineering programmed the PLC operating logic for the system which included tool output sequences, safety interlocks and interface/coordination with specialized motion control hardware. I would highly recommend their services. They demonstrated a high level of mechanical understanding to make this machine function with precision. They have always jumped through hoops to make whatever changes I want to make, big or small, a simple reality. In this industry you don’t often find that.

Tracy Knight – Tooling and Machine Design

Company: Jerome Cheese Company (Jerome, ID)

Pro West Engineering performed many types of work for our control system. This ranged from PLC programming to operator interface configuration and deployment. He built many screens on our Wonderware system which included process control, monitoring and communication. He improved the appearance of our existing PanelView screens and made operations easier to understand and troubleshoot. This also reduced the time needed to train new operators. Along with this, he implemented a plant wide data gathering system that allowed operators to input data from Wonderware stations which was used in reporting. Pro West Engineering programmed many complex operating procedures in our PLC system. This gave us advanced functionality for operators to control their equipment and make quick and appropriate decisions on process control.

Wayne Averbeck - Automation Manager

Customer: Pacificorp (Salt Lake City, UT)

Pro West Engineering programmed an Allen Bradley system that controls the pH and ORP of our boiler feed system by regulating chemical addition. This system treats boiler feed water on all three main units at our plant. The system has improved our water quality and boiler maintenance.

Thomas Goff - Electrical Dept.

Customer: Wolverine Gas & Oil (Richfield, UT)

Pro West Engineering provided an arc flash hazard analysis on all our equipment ranging from 46kV to 120 Volts. They also performed short circuit analysis and device coordination study for our plant. The arc flash stickers they provided work great to help us use the correct PPE while working on electrical equipment.

Bryan Sorensen - Electrical Supervisor

Customer: Raser Technologies (Milford, UT)

Pro West Engineering designed controls, instrumentation and mechanical systems for our geothermal well modules that feed brine to our plant generators. This included 4160 volt gear and motor soft-starters. They know their business and did a good job.

Johnny White - Controls and Instrumentation

Company: Jerome Cheese Company (Jerome, ID)

Pro West Engineering was involved with the installation of electrical systems involving VFD's, electrical motors and instrumentation. This included layout of wiring, conduit systems and breaker/overload protection. They have displayed a thorough understanding of electrical systems and related NEC requirements.

Tim Robbins - Electrical Supervisor

Company: Barrick Gold (Carlin, NV)

Pro West Engineering setup and configured the communication infrastructure linking the sample processing equipment to our LABWARE database system. This enables 4 standalone Allen Bradley PLC's to get information from and send information to various Microsoft SQL server databases that comprise our LABWARE system. This was done using Rockwell Software's FactoryTalk Transaction Manager (RSSQL) which utilizes multiple database tables and stored procedures. Pro West Engineering competently performed the following aspects of this project: database server setup and programming, installation of Rockwell software and related components, establishing communications between controllers and server and handshaking routines between the FactoryTalk Transaction Manager (RSSQL) and our LABWARE system.

Company: Barrick Gold (Carlin, NV)

Pro West Engineering developed and configured 4 separate RSView nodes used to control the ovens and sample crushing machines. Two RSView nodes were developed and placed in strategic locations to control the first system. Two additional RSView nodes were deployed for a similar second system. All RSView nodes communicate over an Ethernet network and information can be exchanged between all PLC's and HMI's. Screens created by Pro West Engineering are intuitive, and increased ease of use which helps in simplifying the training of our sample technicians.

Company: Jerome Cheese Company (Jerome, ID)

Pro West Engineering programmed our palletizing robot and conveying system to stack, shrink wrap and convey product from the processing area to our cooling warehouse. He created the stacking programs and loading sequences which optimized our process to fit our specialized needs. They worked hard and did a good job.

Michael Payne - Automation Supervisor

Customer: Amalgamated Sugar Co. LLC (Twin Falls, ID)

Terry Robinson was the Amalgamated Sugar Company LLC. Twin Falls Idaho Factory Plant Electrical Engineer for several years. During this time he was in charge of both the electrical and instrument departments.

Terry Robinson did advanced process control programming using a Fisher-Provox DCS. He also programmed and Allen Bradley PLC-2, PLC-5, SLC500 and ControlLogix PLC's throughout our plant.
